Keeping Up With Responsibilities

With the holiday gone, and one more coming up quickly, sometimes we lose sight of our responsibilities. We have made an extra special effort to try and keep up with it all. Having an animal such as a dog, cat, horse, or even a turtle can be fun, but very full of responsibilities. We just so happen to have animals in our home and my daughter also has her horse to take care of. Please remember that even though animals are not people, they ARE living things and still need to be taken care of. You are the one that chose them to be in your family. They are givers of such joy in our lives and they deserve to have our time and attention as well. Hug your pet today, you'll be glad you did.

Children are True Blessings

Our Thanksgiving holiday was really wonderful. Most of my children and grandchildren came down and we had a great visit. This is my youngest grandbaby, who has just turned 2 yrs old. She is modeling a Laura Ashley, 100% silk dress that is valued at $50. that I was so lucky to win through a contest at http://hipmommysplace.com When they contacted me to tell me that I had won the contest, I was so excited. I knew this would be a beautiful dress for my granddaughter to wear. I am very thankful that for the fact that http://hipmommysplace.com sent the dress out so quickly. It even arrived in time for her to model it for me before they left back to Oklahoma. Go and check out this great blog. I really enjoy it alot. Thanks to hipmommysplace I was lucky enough to win it. What another wonderful blessing indeed.

Being Thankful

With Thanksgiving fastly approaching, my darling daughter is out of school for the whole week, which gives her some much-needed rest from all the hustle and bustle of the football/band marching season. Sadly to say, we didn't win the last game but we sure have had a great time going to all the football games. Now, on to a bit more serious of gab. This is a time to give thanks. What are you thankful for? How about you, my daughter, have you stopped to count your many blessings? Actually, Thanksgiving isn't the only time to be thankful, because we receive blessings all year long, but Thanksgiving is a time to reflect upon everything we are thankful about. Stop long enough and count the many blessings you have in your life. Be sure to tell others who have helped you or done things for you a big "thankyou".

Teens and Boys

I can't tell you how much I wish that these days and times weren't so much to have to worry about. Back when I was a kid, we didn't have so much worry. In today's times, you almost have to worry about everything. I have raised 4 children already so this last daughter of mine, being the baby, really has me on my toes. You might think that after raising the others, that I would be tired. Oh yes, you are correct.....I am. But, no matter how tired I am, I must stick to my principles and do the best job that I can for her.
I am talking about boys this morning. You know, those gangly tall, some with braces some not, boys who is most definetly the apple of their mother's eye. My dear darling daughter has really not had much interest in boys through middle school but now that she has started high school, that's another story. She seems to attract them and I sit here wishing that she was still uninterested, but the cold hard fact that she has, has hit our home. My daughter was liking one boy for a month, then another one for about a week, she took about a week or two break and yesterday she lets me know that she likes another boy now. Geez, slow down kid !!! Thank goodness though, that it's not serious stuff yet. Do you think that I can wipe the sweat off my brow yet?

Today's Monday--Get Out Of Bed !!!

This weekend went well and we stayed really busy with the football game Friday night, going to the horse stables and shopping for groceries on Saturday, but Sunday, we took a very relaxing day to rest. There were times that we were almost bored out of our skulls on Sunday because there's really not much to do except watch football games on tv, which is something that occurs at our house as much as possible (hubby, of course). This morning it's time to get up and go to school and get back into our weekly routine. Dear daughter of mine, I know you hate getting woke up early, but school is important. Try going to sleep a little bit earlier or taking a nap on Sunday so you will be well rested. Getting plenty of rest is very important. Wake up and get ready for school......and by the way, you might as well smile, because you got the whole day ahead of you.

What Does a Smile Do For You?

Smiling is essential these days, not only in the good times, but it can help in the bad times as well. We want every day to be cheerful and happy but let's face it, that doesn't always happen. When we are going through a rough period, or maybe you are just having a bad day, take the time to remember and smile. Not only that, smile at someone or with someone....that makes the whole day better. A bad day doesn't last forever and a smile will get you through the hard times.

Report Cards

I have been keeping a close eye out for the report card that was coming out. We are very fortunate in our school district that we have an online way of checking out our children's grades at any time. I must say, I like it so much because there have been times when I found a zero or two on one of her classes and I was able to point it out to her so that she could go to tutoring and make up what she needed to so that she could keep her grades passing. I was very pleased when she brought home (3) A's, (3) B's and (2) C's, but those C's were not far from being B's. Whoppieeeeeee!!! Being in band has really made her more aware of making better grades. Band has done so many good things for her and I am so proud. Right now, I can honestly say that things are going great. So, if I could only get my teenaged son (19) and his girlfriend from arguing so much, things would really be hunky-dorey....

Getting Enough Beauty Sleep

Getting enough sleep at night is really very important. Teens think that they can stay up until midnight and get up at what time the next morning????? Was that 6 am? Yes, it's true. If my teen doesn't go to bed at night by 9:30 or 10 pm, she will not, and I repeat that, will NOT get up by 6 am the next morning. Teens are still young people, growing. They need plenty of sleep. Besides, walking from one class to another 5 days out of the week is quite alot of exercise, especially at our high school, then coming home, homework takes it's toll and then it's time to relax a little. Getting plenty of sleep also helps out on the beauty too !!!
