My teen is a beauty. Not only is she tall, but she is very thin. Most of her life, she has had pretty good eating habit, but since the past year or so, things have changed. She still eats plenty of fruits but truly doesn't like alot of meat. She only likes choice veggies and has been doing alot of snacking that doesn't include alot of protein. I looked online to see what types of food give protein....here is what I found.
oatmeal, wheat bread, eggs, yogurt, cheese, whole grains, beans, nuts, peas, and even peanut butter. Of course, lean red meats, chicken, bacon, and pork.
Not eating enough protein leaves you tired, lazy-feeling and just downright exhausted, which is just how she has been feeling over the summer. Now, we are going to get back on the right track of eating----MORE PROTEIN!!
Although I have already raised 4 children, I still have one young teen left in the house. Now that I am older and have more experience, I thought that I would write down some pointers for my teenaged daughter.

10 Things I Really Enjoyed About My Daughter's Quinceanera
Things I enjoyed most about my daughter's quinceanera......
1. I really enjoyed seeing the big smile on her face as she greeted so many guests.
2. I loved the fact that we rented a bear costume and our nephew came out in it and danced with all the kids, giving the young ones something to have fun with as well. My daughter was wonderfully suprized.
3. The cake was beautiful and I am glad that we went with the Martinez Bakery because they did an excellent job.
4. I asked all of my daughter's court of honor to sit together while eating and they were great. Not only did they stay together most of the night, they danced with each other and their parents, really being a part of the whole night. It was so nice.
5. Our choreographer did an excellent job with the court of honor's dancing. I am so glad we got him for the job.
6. I used a smaller company for the limo services with ALOT of research finding him but the limo was brand spanking new and he was on time and very courteous.
7. All of my grown kids were right there to help me out with serving the food and making guests feel welcome.
8. Jessica got 2 really special suprize gifts that she really has been wanting for a long time and that was a blessing right there.
9. Even though my daughter's real dad did not show up like he said he would, her step dad really stepped in and took over, which really eased her mind and made her feel more comfortable.
10. I am SOOOOOO GLAD IT'S OVER !!!!!

Eating Habits; Are They Affecting Your Teen?
Today's world seems to be spinning ever so quickly and often times we don't always stop and see what's going on. Yes, we are very concerned about our daughters and their grades in school, the kids she hangs out with but have you stopped to see what your teen is eating? Or even if they are eating 3 meals a day? Boys don't seem to have a problem with finding things to eat, but many girls can be quite picky about things, at least mine is. My daughter is very thin, fairly tall and likes to eat, but there are times that I have found that she skips a meal, then later coming back for snacks. She has the metabolizm that she can eat just about anything and still remain thin, but as of late, I have really had to stop and observe what she is actually eating. She was in band for the past 4 years, an english horse jumper, and we recently had her quince. I have noticed that there are times that she is just down-right exhausted and I was so concerned that I took her to the Dr. and they took a blood test and found that she is NOT anemic....ok, so what else could be the problem? It turned out that after a few other tests, it seems to be her diet, or lack of the proper kind of food. She loves fruit, so that wasn't the problem....it was the lack of enough protein in her eating habits. Not eating enough lean meat has been the source of her getting tired so quickly. We are now on a better track on her eating habits. Does your teen eat the right foods?

Quinceanera is Finally Done !!!
Now that the quinceanera is over, things are starting to settle down some. The party was a huge success, although there were some things that happened that were not in my control. Our DJ didn't inform me of the time he was going to start hooking up his equipment so I ended up paying the hall for 3 extra hours..... then, the cd's that I copied for the court of honor to dance to as well as the father/daughter dance weren't readable by the DJ's equipment.....thank GOD for my oldest son who was there with his laptop and able to plug into his equipment for that. I totally forgot to bring the oil for the chocolate fountain so we had to put the fruit out on skewers, which worked but wasn't what we had planned. Anyway, all in all, it turned out really good and we had a gigantic crowd. The court of honor and our daughter danced so brilliantly and I was so pleased with how the food and the cake came out. I can now breathe a sigh of relief that it's all done. Geez, school will start next week so here comes another chapter in the life of my darling teen.

Less Than A Week To Go---Then It's Quinceanera Time!
You guessed it! I haven't done any blogging as of late because the quinceanera has really busied me up. I never thought in my wildest of dreams that I would still be working on things with less than a week to go. I got so many things done really early and thought that I would have some time to rest up before the big day but it doesn't look that way. There are so many things that must be done last minute. Anyone got any quince stories to tell? I sure would love to hear them, if you do.

Back To School
It's been terribly hot and today was the first day that my daughter had to go back to school....but not to class. My daughter started band camp this morning. I happened to pass by the school on a run to our local Walmart, to see that the whole band was outside doing some warm-up excercises. I was glad to hear my daughter tell me yesterday that they were only going to be outside during the morning hours and after lunch, inside. What a relief, not only for them, but for me as well.
This year, she is a sophomore. Time is sure flying these days. We will be having her quinceanera in 12 more days.
