Teens and Drivers Ed

Well, Christmas is under a month away and having a teen means that most of the gifts that they want are more expensive. I have decided to give her the gift of drivers ed. I honestly feel that having her taught by an instructor would be best. I think that she would devote more time listening and learning than if I were to try and teach her. I know that the expense is more than what I wished it was, but I want her to learn from someone that can show her the signs, the rules and how to actually manuver a car....... which also means that my little girl is growing up....and before I know it, I will be an empty nester.

OMG, She's Had The Same Boyfriend For Almost A Year Now

I am shocked and amazed that my daughter has been having the same boyfriend for nearly a year now, actually, it's been 11 months. He is the dearest most sweetest young man and is very well mannered. Although this is my youngest of five, I still have to keep on top of things and still keep my eyes peeled for anything that might come along. Do I trust her? Yes, but we are talking about a teen's hormones here and making sure that they are always supervised is of the most importance.....thank goodness neither one of them are driving yet, but that will most undoubtedly come very soon.

Dealing With Death Of A Loved One

How do you deal with death? How much information should you share with your teen about a loved one's passing? I have just had to deal with this very fact and that's why I haven't been writing for the past week and a half. My mother passed, very unexpected. I had to travel 1300 miles to go and take care of things as I am the oldest and my sister is the only one I have left, except for my dad and stepmom but they couldn't help much. I never knew how many things that have to be done after someone's death. I feel that telling my daughter some of the details were important but not everything. I left her here to go to school but she was in excellent hands. I didn't want her to have to see all the things that I had to do while away. Teens do understand that something has gone wrong but in my daughter's case, she had no idea of all that had to be done or why. She was in her own little "teenaged" land and I felt better that way. I will truley miss my mother and my daughter will miss her grandma so much. How much information do you share with your teen about a loved one's passing?

Responsibilities, Cell Phones

keeping a horse is a very large responsibility for sure. We spent most of Sunday looking for and purchasing things we needed for our horse. My darling daughter was, of course, thankful but after all that running around, coming home tired, she came home to her norm, which was having the cell phone glued to her ear. I had to remind her to get on with her chores, which she did, but I wanted her to put the phone down for a moment to get things done without her talking buddy. Teens think it's easy to get things done with a phone stuck to their ears, but honestly, that phone needs to be put down to get some quality work done.

Teens And Pregnancy

It used to be in my day, if you got pregnant while in high school, you just did not go to school and they sent someone to your home to school you during that time. It was something that you actually didn't want others to see you, being pregnant before high school was finished.....however, times have changed so much. I pick up my daughter every day from school and I cannot tell you how many young girls I see that are pregnant. They seem to carry it around like it's nothing. But it's not nothing. They are so young and although having babies are a blessing, our babies having babies is something that should not be happening. They struggle so much with education issues, a father for the child, work to support their child and it's just so many issues to deal with that I ask this question..... should they have a choice at having birth control or do you think that just gives them the right to have sex at their age?
