Still Working On That Quinceanera

Wow, time is sure flying and I am counting down the time for my daughter's quinceanera. It will be on August 16th. I am pretty much done with buying the decorations, after settling on ivy bowls for the tables, candy wrapped in tule fabric, along with hanging heart decorations and some pretty colored flowers too. I am going to set up a table in my sewing room and decorate it to be sure it will be what I want. I decided to make our invitations and bought some invitations from Hobby Lobby, got on microsoft works and wrote out what I want to say, by finding different sayings on various websites to help. I have called the guy who is going to make the cake to get that confirmed. The choreographer called last night and we will start the kids on the dancing practice at the end of the month. Now I have to make a cd of the music we are going to use. She has picked out "My Wish", by Rascal Flats for the Father/daughter dance. She has also picked out 2 cumbias for their dance "Fuego" and "No Tengo Dinero", both by Kumbia Kings. We still are lacking the introduction and the waltz, which will get picked by tomorrow. Her dress will be getting out of layaway this week so we can take some pictures of her in it for the table decorations as well. Gee, this is really getting close to time with so much more to do.

Quinceanera Planning pt.2

After many phone calls, prices, and going to look at about 5 halls, we have settled upon the Knights of Columbus near our home, about 6 miles away.....not bad considering we found it to be really clean, large, plenty of kitchen space with no extra rental to use it like some of the other places and most of all, it's easy to find !!! Oh, and we got it for 8 hours at $ 400, plus a $100 clean up fee. Perfect !!
Next was the dress, and I called around to find something we could afford..especially hearing that most dresses were in the $ 450 and up range, we went a few places and she tried on alot so she could find which color looked best on her. She settled on a royal blue dress that has alot of beautiful pearls and stones on it. Just see how beautiful the dress is. We finally decided to put it on layaway since they offered a 6-month plan. Oh, the dress cost is $ 338. total...(ouch)
Next will come the different things that she is going to need and the padrinos(sponsors) to help get them. I will be making my list and posting it.

Quinceanera Planning

Today was another day of planning. I have begun the planning of my daughter's quinceanera. First of all, the date and place is the most important. I called around tons of locations, trying to find the date or somewhere's near to it that we could find. Here are a few of the places and prices I found today.
1. Our local park with a large building on it which holds plenty of people is booked up for a whole year, but it was close to the total of 725.00
2. The Chapperal was where my daughter wanted it to be, however, it has gone up to $800 for the rental with clean-up included, but I can only get it from 7 pm-midnight, with any decorating beforehand costing $100 hr.
3. Most other places were comparable in price, but I think that I have gotten the list down to a Knights of Columbus, or two different VFW's in the area.
Once we have secured our location, we will be looking for her dress. Geez, that's not gonna be easy, is it?

I will Soon Be Planning My Own Daughter's Quinceneara

Planning a Quinceneara can be mind boggling to say the least. The picture below in the wordless wednesday is actually my daughter's best friend and she posed for this picture before hers so that she could put it on her invitations. I was so pleased because I am the one who actually took the picture. In some of my upcoming blogging, I will talk about getting ready for my darling daughter's quinceneara. This is actually a very large party for a girl who is turning 15 years old. My oh my, it kind of scares me because it means that sometime after that, she is going to want to learn to drive. I hope all of you are enjoying the holiday season. We are. My darling daughter has been cleaning her room today and doing some laundry. Fun, huh?
