Although I have already raised 4 children, I still have one young teen left in the house. Now that I am older and have more experience, I thought that I would write down some pointers for my teenaged daughter.

Band and all the things that go along with it
Today is Tues, and my darling daughter is feeling somewhat better. Life carries on. Band camp is still going strong. Band is not a cheap hobby either, as today they are required to pay nearly $100. for different types of shoes and shirts and cleaning fees, white gloves and all. Her father was supposed to help me with half of it, but he failed to come through AGAIN. I am not happy about it, but really can't do anything about it. Child support does NOT pay for everything. It only helps with some of the costs. Teens clothing prices are getting up in price and of course, it's time for school and the added need of pencils, papers and such are needed as well. I will add here though, that her being in band has been such a blessing. It keeps her busy. She has formed alot of friends through the band and she loves everything about it. It has been a very wise decision to let her participate in band these past several years. Activities are great for teens, even if it's not band...there are many other things for them to get involved in, and being busy with sports or other activities gives them less time to get into bad things. Just my opinion.

One more Day of Summer Freedom
Today is my darling daughter's last day of freedom. Starting tomorrow, she will start band camp, and it will continue until the day school starts. Band camp is the same hours of school so from here on out, all horse activities and swimming, tv watching and other things will be conducted after camp. Today will be a few hours at the stables and then off to Academy for some last minute shorts to wear during band camp and to purchase a new pair of riding boots. We are trying to purchase a horse and were waiting for a pending coggins negative test to arrive yesterday but it didn't come in yet, so we are anxiously awaiting. Purchasing this horse will mean much more responsibility. We will be driving to the stables alot more often and spending much more time there. Gone are the days of resting and relaxing and putting your feet up after work, for me, it will be driving my car here and there, especially with camp. But that's ok, because I know where my teen will be and she will be busy and I won't ever hear that she's BORED!!!! yippeeeee !!!!!!!!

a new year with alot of anticipation
Yippeeeeeee !!!! Band marching camp starts tomorrow and I know that my daughter will make some new friends. She has been complaining about having funny feelings in her stomach over all of her friends going to the new school in town, but I have every bit of confidence that things will go fine for her next year. She will go tomorrow and the next several days and then they will break until Aug 1st and that's when band camp begins again. It's been pouring down rain today and I had my doubts that marching will take place, but I called around and found out that it will go on regardless. I want to tell my dear daughter that I have every confidence in her that things will go fine. She is going to meet new friends and those butterflies in the tummy feeling will eventually go away.
