Frenchie, My Daughter's Horse

This is my daughter's horse, Frenchie. She's been with her for several years now, and my daughter has really spent alot of time with her in training. They are certainly a team. My daughter will be going to the Navy soon, and miss Frenchie will have to enjoy some of our grandchildren and friends during the time she's gone. I pray that my daughter will get stationed somewhere that she will be able to take her there so that she can still ride her and give her the attention that she is so used to getting, but I just don't know at this time, what's going to happen next. High school is over with and although my darling daughter works part time, she still spends a great deal of time with her horse. Frenchie has been a wonderful addition to our family because she has given  my daughter a great deal of learning experience, not to mention, kept her quite busy.  Just wanted to post this pic so you all could take a look at how beautiful she is !

Summer, Once Again....

Now my daughter is going to be a senior and she is so happy about it....little does she realize that it always seems that the last year of high school just goes way too fast. It seems like such a lifetime ago that I graduated from high school, and here I am trying to remember all my friends.
My teen has gone through the Red Cross Lifeguard training and is now going to be a lifeguard at the pools nearby and that's a good thing. She has learned so much, and boy! has she grown up in such a short amount of time. She still has her first job that she got a little over a year ago and works it part time. I think this coming up year will be exciting for her and I am anxious to see how it goes for her. Enjoy your summer my dear readers....for soon, it will be school time again.

A Busy Summer

Now that my daughter has gotten a part time job, things are a little more busier around here. She is not able to drive alone yet, but that will come about pretty soon. My car is definetly getting more driving time this summer, but it's great because my daughter isn't bored. She is working 17 hours average per week, spending time riding her horse, and still has time to lay around in her bedroom watching tv and getting rest.
What are your teens doing for the summer break? Swimming, or other activities that keep them busy?

One more Day of Summer Freedom

Today is my darling daughter's last day of freedom. Starting tomorrow, she will start band camp, and it will continue until the day school starts. Band camp is the same hours of school so from here on out, all horse activities and swimming, tv watching and other things will be conducted after camp. Today will be a few hours at the stables and then off to Academy for some last minute shorts to wear during band camp and to purchase a new pair of riding boots. We are trying to purchase a horse and were waiting for a pending coggins negative test to arrive yesterday but it didn't come in yet, so we are anxiously awaiting. Purchasing this horse will mean much more responsibility. We will be driving to the stables alot more often and spending much more time there. Gone are the days of resting and relaxing and putting your feet up after work, for me, it will be driving my car here and there, especially with camp. But that's ok, because I know where my teen will be and she will be busy and I won't ever hear that she's BORED!!!! yippeeeee !!!!!!!!

Slow Summer Days

Summer is a lovely time when many people take vacations and have "free" time to go different places, but what about those people who can't go on vacation? Teens are out of school, and if you work all day, you have to worry about what they are doing all day long... well, maybe some don't worry, but what do those teens do while you are working all day?Luckily, I have my own business and only work part time so I don't have to worry as much. I have searched high and low for programs for my young teen and have finally come up with a solution. Our local library and city (although small) offers some classes for a month or maybe 2. I found a tennis begginners class that my daughter was interested in and for 6 classes, about 2 hours each, it was only $50. for the whole thing. That was perfect for her and for me because it's less than let's say, gymnastics or some of the other programs you can find. Plus, this is only for the month of July and that is good, since band camp will start in August. Although she is going to the horse stables once or twice a week, she STILL complains of the boredom. I guess next time I hear that famous old saying "I'm Bored" I am going to take her the cleaning supplies! haha..

Needing ideas for summer activities

Not only do I need more ideas as to what activities my daughter can participate in, now, my oldest daughter moved with my granddaughters about 6 hours away. No longer will my dear daughter have a bike riding partner, or someone to go to the local pool with. I am going to have to really get hopping tomorrow to start looking around for some good activities for her to keep her busy. We are really sad that part of our family has moved. But I know that things will get better.
