With only a few short weeks of high school left, my darling daughter has been under a little bit of stress...not only does she have to worry about every book being turned in, all fees paid up and making sure all her homework is turned in on time, but now she has to think about what she's going to wear under her cap and gown for graduation. They are being pretty specific on what can and can't be worn. She also has several days of exams to complete which will go toward her final grades.
We ordered her yearbook, but the darned thing won't even come in until August, but school will no longer be in session so I think it's going to be next to impossible for her to get autographs from her school buddies, especially when everyone seems to be going their separate ways to different colleges and such.
I understand the frustrations going on and she will have her last day at the vet's office this week, so perhaps she will feel a little more at ease.
Summer's coming up quickly....she has a summer job as a lifeguard, and soon..........THE NAVY !!!
Although I have already raised 4 children, I still have one young teen left in the house. Now that I am older and have more experience, I thought that I would write down some pointers for my teenaged daughter.

The Last Year Of High School
The last year of high school for my daughter has just begun....all seems well. I have noticed a large difference in my teen. Nothing bad, but just annoying. I suppose it's supposed to be that way, because they are at the age of trying to assert themselves as upcoming adults into this world. Scary, but true.
No more ex-boyfriend this year because she has decided not to go back with him, and it hurts her just as much as him, but this is the last year of school.....a time to get her head on right about what her future brings; college, direction in life, and enjoying her friends before all the adulthood things come along like the rent and electricity bills.
She has just gotten a new job, which is very much directed in the field that she wants(vet) and things are looking good. Next year she will be going off to college and I am starting to worry about it now. I need to look into scholarships and grants to help her out some. And we have a beautiful horse that will be going where she goes...Wish me luck!

Teens and Boys
I can't tell you how much I wish that these days and times weren't so much to have to worry about. Back when I was a kid, we didn't have so much worry. In today's times, you almost have to worry about everything. I have raised 4 children already so this last daughter of mine, being the baby, really has me on my toes. You might think that after raising the others, that I would be tired. Oh yes, you are correct.....I am. But, no matter how tired I am, I must stick to my principles and do the best job that I can for her.
I am talking about boys this morning. You know, those gangly tall, some with braces some not, boys who is most definetly the apple of their mother's eye. My dear darling daughter has really not had much interest in boys through middle school but now that she has started high school, that's another story. She seems to attract them and I sit here wishing that she was still uninterested, but the cold hard fact that she has, has hit our home. My daughter was liking one boy for a month, then another one for about a week, she took about a week or two break and yesterday she lets me know that she likes another boy now. Geez, slow down kid !!! Thank goodness though, that it's not serious stuff yet. Do you think that I can wipe the sweat off my brow yet?

Oh the joys of Summer School
I worked hard yesterday, and I had to go out and buy my hubby a birthday present before I came home so I was really tired. We went to see a horse trainer teach a lesson so my daughter could see how she taught. That all went well, and when we came home, the mail had just come in. During that time, I was glued to American Idol on tv and started reading some mail that came in from the school for us for my daughter. SUMMER SCHOOL?? oh no !!!!! I knew that her math skills were weak. She excels in most of her classes. She only struggles through math. I had been taking her to morning tutorial classes and STILL she is having a hard time. The letter said that she was in danger of failing math for the year and would possibly have to take summer school... listen, I want the best for my daughter, but summer school where I am living at is NOT free. And of course, there is no choice. It has to be done. I love my child and want her to do her best, so of course, that will be what we are going to be doing for part of the summer. She will be going to high school next year. I told her that high school is much harder than intermediate and they are trying to prepare students for college. So, she will be in summer school this summer as well as doing some volunteering at the horse rescue center. She is going to have a busy summer indeed.
